When Benoy Architects designed the interior
of the Food Court at Fosse Park, Leicester they had to take
account of a number of factors. As Rob Bishop of Benoy explains
“You have to balance the need for high density seating
with the demands of privacy, good accessibility and controlled
tenant branding”.
All of the materials used had to meet the
functional requirements of one the UK’s busiest shopping
centres. For such a heavy usage public area, Benoy looked
for high quality materials with an attractive finish, able
to support effective cleaning and maintenance regimes.
Over 800m2 of Stratica Oak were specified
in the main seating area to complement the polished stone
around the perimeter. Peter Challoner of Benoy is enthusiastic
about the results “This solution of combined materials
has produced results of a higher standard than usually associated
with this type of project”.
